AMD 下一代海島家族 HD 8000 顯卡近來很安靜，之前有過即將流片的消息
而且被人挖掘出 Mars、Oland 以及 Venus 的代號
那麼還有一個關鍵的問題，HD 8000 的性能會比現在的 HD 7000 系列高出多少？
Softepedia 稱有消息 HD 8000 系列繼續使用 TSMC 28nm
架構也是採用目前的 GCN，但是會做一些改進
電晶體數量從目前的 43 億增加到 51 億
核心面積從 365mm^2 增加到 410mm^2
晶體管規模只增加了 18% 的情況下性能提升了 40% 左右
HD 8970 將擁有 2560 個 1D 流處理器單元，160 個 TMU 紋理單元
32 個或者 48 個 ROP 光柵單元
均比目前的 2048 流處理器單元、128 紋理單 元、32 ROP 單元要多
不過記憶體通道寬度繼續維持 384bit，容量應該也是 3GB
具體的頻率未知，但是隨著 HD 7970 GHz 顯卡的到來，HD 8970 很可能也將突破 1GHz
