從Intel Core Duo時代開始,CPU就有內建純硬體的過熱保護機制,
CPU核心內部有一個叫做DTS(digital thermal sensor)的數位溫度感測,
用來偵測CPU的核心溫度(Tj),CPU有幾個核心,就有幾個DTS,
這個DTS數據儲存在CPU內的暫存器中,
當DTS偵測溫度已經到達CPU的核心最高溫時(Tj MAX),
會發出一個叫做PROCHOT#的過熱訊號,
這時CPU內建的過熱保護線路TCC (Thermal Control Circuit)會自動啟動,
而TCC的動作行為就是降低CPU的頻率,讓核心溫度(Tj)維持在此顆CPU的規格內,
此時CPU因為頻率下降,所以功耗減少,效能降低,溫度也跟著下降,
一旦CPU的溫度下降到正常值,CPU就會恢復正常的頻率。
因為TCC會讓CPU的溫度維持在規格內,因此不會造成系統的當機,只會變慢,
除非,你的高溫還有外來因素(其他硬體),對CPU加溫,溫度高到TCC的機制都檔不住,
這時的溫度已經超出CPU規格了,CPU才會發出一個訊號叫做THERMTRIP#,
強迫整個系統斷電關機,所以沒有風扇,也是可以運作,但是效能變得很低。
會開不起來或是一下子就關機,多半是主機板廠多做的保護。
感謝板友提醒,10多年前,就有人測試過沒有任何散熱的燒機,
那時的AMD還沒有保護機制,當場冒煙,還挺丟臉的....
