Intel力證AMD推PCIe 4.0無用:遊戲性能只影響0.0099%

AMD的銳龍3000及X570平台不僅帶來了更多的CPU核心及更強的單核性能,還首次在消費級
平台支持了PCIe 4.0,雙向帶寬達到了32GB/s,相比目前的PCIe 3.0技術,PCIe 4.0帶寬
翻倍。
在Intel這邊,他們的桌面平台依然只支持PCIe 3.0,目前所知的下一代處理器也沒上
PCIe 4.0的打算,現在AMD力推PCIe 4.0,一躍成為PC平台的技術帶路人,Intel這邊也不
能無動於衷,日前多次宣稱PCIe 4.0對遊戲性能沒什麼意義。
Intel不光是口頭上這麼說說,他們還是擺事實講道理,有理有據地幫大家分析為什麼
PCIe 4.0沒用,特別是對玩遊戲來說。
legitreviews網站與Intel的首席性能戰略師Ryan Shrout做了溝通,Intel拿出了分析及
測試來說服大家相信PCIe 4.0的帶寬對玩遊戲沒什麼幫助。
首先來看看玩遊戲都需要多大的帶寬,Intel列舉了1920x1080、2560x144、3840x2160多
個分辨率及刷新率、色深等參數,即便是4K 144Hz 10bit色深下,最高帶寬需要也不過
35.83Gbps。
這個帶寬對PCIe 3.0 x4來說都差不多滿足了,後者的帶寬都有31.6Gbps,再高一點的話
PCIe 3.0 x8也足夠了,63.2Gbps的帶寬已經遠超4K 144Hz HDR10的需求了。
到現在為止,Intel是通過理論計算來告訴大家PCIe 3.0帶寬不是瓶頸,既然PCIe 3.0 x8
都能滿足4K 144Hz要求,那PCIe 4.0超高的帶寬也沒用武之地了。
接著Intel又開始擺數據了,不過Intel手裡也沒有PCIe 4.0的顯卡,所以這裡的測試實際
上是他們藉用TPU網站的測試來說話,帶寬也只有PCIe 3.0 x16的,不過這不是問題,因
為Intel只要證明PCIe 3.0 x8、x16都夠用就行了。
從Intel援引的數據來看,別說PCIe 4.0的超高帶寬了,從PCIe 3.0 x8升級到x16帶寬都
沒有什麼遊戲性能提升,平均下來性能影響只有0.0099%,這點差距可能連誤差都不用算
了。
Intel說的這些問題,AMD也不會不明白,不過AMD力推的PCIe 4.0應用主要是SSD硬盤,但
是對於這一點,Intel也有話說。
從Intel的數據來看看,他們認為現在的高性能PCIe 3.0硬盤的性能也達到了3.5GB/s,目
前的遊戲都沒有完全利用好PCIe 3.0 x4的帶寬,即便有部分遊戲偏離了他們的測試,但
是依然在SSD的峰值性能水平之內,總之SSD的讀寫速度也不需要那麼高的帶寬,而且延遲
要比速度更重要,而PCIe 4.0硬盤的延遲實際上沒什麼變化的,主要就是連續讀寫性能提
高了。
