半導體王者歸來?Intel 7nm關鍵指標洩漏:比肩3nm

這幾天,Intel公佈了雄心勃勃的IDM 2.0戰略,將投資200億美元建設兩座半導體晶圓廠
,7nm工藝要在2023年量產,目標是要重回半導體領先地位。
在14nm節點之前,特別是22nm首發3D晶體管FinFET工藝之後,Intel在2014年之前可以說
是全球最先進的半導體工廠,官方PPT曾經表示他們領先友商至少3.5年,考慮到當時三星
、台積電的情況,Intel此言不虛。
當然,這幾年情況變了,14nm工藝雖然性能很好,但是從2014到現在都用了7年了,台積
電三星這幾年中可是從28nm一路升級到了5nm工藝,明年都要量產3nm工藝了。

Intel今年的主力會是10nm,下一個節點7nm原定是2021年,不過跳票到了2023年,首款
CPU產品將是Meteor Lake,今年Q2季度會Tape in,也就是完成設計工作,即將進入流片
階段。
那Intel的7nm工藝到底如何?現在還沒明確消息,不過業界大站Anandtech的主編Ian
Cutress公佈了一些數據,對比了不同工藝的晶體管密度,如下所示:

台積電的5nm工藝密度是1.71億晶體管/mm2,3nm工藝可達2.9億晶體管/mm2,而Intel的
10nm工藝是1.01億晶體管/mm2,7nm節點可達2-2.5億晶體管/mm2。
對比的話,Intel的7nm工藝按最高水平來看,非常接近台積電的3nm工藝,哪怕在2023年
問世,有這個水平的話也不比台積電差多少,不像現在這樣14nm、10nm工藝被7nm、5nm遙
遙領先。
當然,以上都是極限水平,實際表現還要看處理器的具體情況,只是現在這個數據足以說
明Intel的7nm工藝不容小覷,耐心等待兩年,或許Intel真的王者歸來了。

不過i皇說過14nm是他們最好ㄉ工藝之一
