LibreOffice 是由歐洲一個非營利組織 Document Foundation 從
Sun/Oracle 的 OpenOffice.org(軟體) 分支出來，完全獨立於 Sun/Oracle 之外
目前該計畫已發表一個 beta 版本，雖然看起來和 OpenOffice.org 大致相同
未來 Debian, Fedora, SUSE, Ubuntu, 都將採用這個分支辦公軟體套件
