今年10月下旬,身為企業經營者和科技記者雙重身份的西川善司參加了索尼互動娛樂(
SIE)面向日本國內遊戲企業經營者的技術報告會,馬克塞爾尼與伊藤雅康兩人主持報告
會。 報告會上有一部分內容是此前西田宗千佳在採訪時問到的,還有一部分硬體架構上
的問題,揭曉如下:
PS4 Pro的定制GPU從Polaris架構上採納技術的部分例子:
Polaris世代架構GPU特有的節能機能,(Polaris主打的節能機能分別是「Adaptive
Voltage & Frequency Scaling」和「Multi-Bit Flip-Flop」,前者是根據晶片不同的體
質自動調整電壓和頻率,相比以往電壓頻率控制來說更加靈活;後者涉及筆者並不諳熟的
電路術語,恕難翻譯其原理,但最終的效果是節省電路面積和控制功耗)
改進版Lossless Delta Color Compression,可以翻譯成「無損三角色壓縮技術」,運用
這種技術,可以將貼圖材質中的色彩資料以壓縮格式寫入和讀取,在渲染時交由GPU解壓
,從而最大限度地節省顯存頻寬,或者說提高實效顯存頻寬。
根據AMD的介紹,LDCC可以使得實效顯存頻寬平均提高40%,PS4 Pro的理論顯存頻寬是
218GB/s,在無損三角色壓縮技術的加持下,實效相當於305GB/s,相當於標準版PS4的
1.73倍。
西川善司在此前的文章中誤認為第一代「無損三角色壓縮技術」已經在PS4的GPU上裝備,
索尼在前不久要求西川訂正:PS4標準版的GPU沒有裝備無損三角色壓縮技術。
Primitive Discard Accelerator 字面可翻譯成」原始丟棄加速器「,是一種將大小、位
置不足以顯示在畫面上的多邊形排除在渲染管線之外的節省渲染資源的技術,跟以往的同
類技術相比,該技術可將某些由於方位、距離等原因,在顯示幕上大小不足一個圖元的多
邊形排除出渲染管線,集中有限的渲染資源渲染可見多邊形。
對16bit資料處理的改進:在記錄器上以原生方式處理16位浮點和16位整數運算;在同時
完成兩個16位資料的處理之時,還可以將兩個資料記錄在32位的記錄器上。

真正的倍速半精度浮點運算
PS4 GPU的浮點性能是 單精確度4.2TFLOPS 半精度8.4TFLOPS 考慮到法線向量、圖元色值
這些資料是可以用半精度來處理,加上前文所說的16bit資料處理改進,如果開發者充分
運用,可以大大提升遊戲表現
Work Distributor 當大量多邊形資料有待處理時,進行高效率的分配調節,提高處理效
率。
