建議man 一下mergemaster可以找到相關的資料
擔心的話，可以這樣

-P Preserve files that you replace in
/var/tmp/mergemaster/preserved-files-<date>, or another
directory you specify in your mergemaster rc file.

或是像其他網友說的直接備份/etc，因為主要的更新幾乎都是在etc下的檔案
