Ubuntu 9.10 的防火牆 - Linux

請問 Ubuntu 9.10 有沒有需要裝防火牆軟體？
是不是內建的 iptable 就夠了？
可是像我用 Transmission torrent client
也沒去開 ports 就能跑了，
這樣 iptable 有在作用嗎？
我看 lazyscripts 內有推薦用 firestarter,
這是 iptable 的前端程式還是獨立的？
安裝前有需要把 iptable 移除掉嗎？
