安裝顯卡驅動問題 - Linux

我的顯卡是9600GT那張,今天從NV關網下載安裝檔NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-304.37
看之前顯卡那篇版友回說先用chmod +x 然後sudo ./
我做到這邊都還OK,當正要跑安裝檔時候突然冒出WARNING,上面是這樣寫的
WARNING: You do not appear to have an NVIDIA GPU supported by the 304.37
NVIDIA Linux graphics driver installed in this system. For further details,
please see the appendix SUPPORTED NVIDIA GRAPHICS CHIPS in the README
available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com.
-> The file '/tmp/.X0-lock' exists and appears to contain the process ID
'961' of a runnning X server.
ERROR: You appear to be running an X server; please exit X before installing.
For further details, please see the section INSTALLING THE NVIDIA DRIVER in

接著就跳開了,上面說X server這個看不懂他是在說什麼（Linux新手),麻煩各位版友能夠
幫我解惑,在此感到抱歉造成各位的麻煩
