iPhone 13系列手機即將在9月推出，但根據西班牙消費者消費者權益組織（OCU）指出，他們已經對蘋果公司（Apple Inc.）發公開信，要求針對 iPhone 12、iPhone 11、iPhone 8 及 iPhone XS 的「降速作法」提出賠償。
據西班牙網站《iPhoneros》報導指出，OCU在公開信上說明，當這些型號的用戶更新到 iOS 14.5、iOS 14.5.1 或 iOS 14.6 後，設備處理速度會急劇下降，因此要求該公司提供一種方式來補償iPhone 12、iPhone 11、iPhone 8和 iPhone XS用戶，對於補償方式的要求，OCU甚至威脅表示，若蘋果公司的回應不讓人滿意，將會訴諸法律行動，更不排除透過提告，以維護消費者權益。
除此之外，在今年年初時，葡萄牙的Deco Proteste也指責蘋果公司會「計劃性」的淘汰某些產品。「Apple故意操縱其最受歡迎的設備，即iPhone 6、iPhone 6 Plus、iPhone 6S和 iPhone 6S Plus的性能，而且沒有通知使用者，迫使一些使用者更換設備的電池或購買新的智慧手機。」
在2017年時，蘋果公司就曾被控降速某系列的iPhone，透過降低電池性能，限制舊 iPhone 性能，以增加新手機的購買量。而截至目前，西班牙的Apple公司還沒有對這封信作出回應。
