ATi硬解最初是AVIVO,後來就發展成了UVD(AVIVO HD中的一項)
UVD才開始支援HD影片的硬解,只要支援UVD,HD影片編碼的H.264、VC-1和MPEG2都支援
UVD目前的版本有UVD、UVD+、UVD 2、UVD 2.2
UVD:最初的版本,支援H.264、VC-1和MPEG2硬體解碼
UVD+:比UVD支援更高解析度的HDCP輸出
UVD 2:多支援了MPEG4解碼
UVD 2.2:關閉non-reference picture write功能,並增加相容性
(詳細差異請參閱官方網站,這邊只說大差異...)

UVD:Radeon HD2000 series (2900 series例外)
UVD+:Radeon HD3000 series
UVD 2:Radeon HD4800/4600 series

NV硬解的技術稱為PureVideo
PureVideo目前已經發展到第三代了(VP1/VP2/VP3)
其中VP1僅支援HD加速解碼,不能完全硬解
VP2才是真正開始有HD硬解,不過不支援完全VC-1解碼(VC-1僅能輔助解碼)
VP3才完全支援VC-1、H.264、MPEG2全部的HD影片解碼
(詳細差異請參閱官方網站,這邊只說大差異...)
VP1:Geforce 6 series、Geforce 7 series、Geforce 8800 Ultra/GTS(G80核心)
VP2:Geforce 8 series(8800 Ultra/GTS G80核心例外)、Geforce 9600 series/9800GT
Geforce GTX 260/280
VP3:Geforce 9400GT/9500GT
要注意的是NV有些產品是Remark的,這樣支援的技術是Remark之前的....

最後如果要真的要玩硬解,建議別買低階卡,至少買中階的
原因是中階卡以上才有能力對HD影片做後處理
