最近某品牌某型號主機板發生板上電容極性顛倒的現象,並導致異常及鄰近元件燒毀,為
何電容極性很重要呢?以下將進行分析
以往主機板比較常見圓柱形聚合物電解電容(又俗稱固態電容),但部分高階主機板或是空
間寸土寸金的形式(例如ITX),會使用下面這種表面黏著的方型聚合物電容,下圖為
Panasonic SP-CAP聚合物鋁質電容器,具有低ESR(等效內阻)、優異雜訊抑制及暫態響應
,並且不具溫度漂移及DC/AC偏壓特性

電容內部結構如下:作為正極的鋁箔上會有一層薄薄的氧化鋁層,外面包著做為電解質的
導電聚合物材料,最外層則是石墨與銀膠組成的負極,最後加上端子,並用樹脂包裹成型

當電容極性正確時,氧化鋁層扮演著隔離絕緣的作用,並使電容發揮正常的功能。若是當
極性反接,氧化鋁層將無法正常發揮絕緣隔離的作用,這時電容漏電流會大增,此時電容
將變成一個類似電阻的元件,開始發熱並出現異常電流流動,導致其他電路元件承受過大
的電流,如果是在電源電路中,極性相反的電容會成為一個異常電流路徑,超過電路最初
設計的額定電流,並可能造成功率元件(MOSFET)燒毀。因為固態電容未有傳統電解電容的
液態電解液,所以不會出現明顯膨脹鼓包或是噴出電解液/氣體的狀況,但仍可透過紅外
線熱影像分析找出漏電流過高而溫度異常的電容
一般電容上有標記的部分通常為負極,但這種表面黏著方型電容上面有標記處為正極,是
剛好相反的,通常是人工更換或焊接時較容易搞混,鮮少出現在全自動上件的製程上。另
外全自動上件製程後應該也要經過AOI(Automated Optical Inspection,自動光學檢測)
,若有異常應要被AOI設備偵出,照理說不應逃脫,不過廠商在發生問題後也鎖定受影響
的序號批次進行召回處理,也算是有負起責任,對於影響序號批次外的使用者,也可以自
行檢查一下,求個心安
