半導體元件的代表就是中央處理器(CPU),整個理論的基礎是電子、微電子。
科學家們一直在尋求革命性的突破,光(光子)成為了新的介質。
據Engadget報導,美國科羅拉多大學研究人員表示,他們已經研發出第一個完全使用光而
不是電來傳輸數據的處理器。
該原型產品尺寸為3mm x 6mm,雙核設計,包含850個輸入或輸出的光學元件,每平方毫米
的處理帶寬為300Gbps。運算速度是普通基於電信號設計的10倍至50倍。
光處理器設計的重點是利用原有的處理器架構設計但用光學部件代替原來的電子部件,目
的是不改變架構的情況下大幅提高性能,尤其是頻寬。
